In the earliest years of 1800 small factories, mills, carpentries, sawmills started to be built along the
banks of the stream Stava. A very hardworking woman, Mrs. Gilmozzi bought one of them and turned it into a pleasant family
run guest house.
Owing to financial problems she was forced to sell the building in 1949 and Mrs. Vigna
took it over and she remodelled it.
After Mrs. Vigna's death her brother Otto Vigna and her numerous grandchildren sold the property in 1985.
On 19 th July 1985 the villages in the valley of the stream Stava were destroyed by a mud avalanche but the
guest house was only partly damaged.
The new proprietors Mr. Peretti started the reconstruction in 1989 and a modern large complex, more suitable to
the needs of an elegant clientele was built.
On 23rd December 1990 Park Hotel Rio Stava was opened and since then The Peretties have run the hotel with an
unique commitment and a strong passion.
